Background[]
Zuvembies are shadowy cousins to zombies. They wander the surface of the Land of the Dead with no purpose, but they could smell life if life ventured too close to them. They were shambling corpses, that could spell death with a merely a touch. They sniff and shuffle bearing death to life. Many of them include the corpses of poor souls that washed up on the shores of the land of the dead from wrecked ships.
Behind the scenes[]
A zuvembie is a creature created by Robert E. Howard in his short story "Pigeons From Hell," published in Weird Tales in 1938. Due to restrictions put in place by the Comics Code Authority, the term has since been used in comic books to replace "zombie".
