Zeus is the ruler of Mount Olympus.

Background[]

Zeus was one three sons of Cronus. He and his brothers, Poseidon (Neptune) and Pluto, killed their father and divided the world among them--Zeus obtained Olympus.[1]

Zeus also is known for creating Pandora, as part of his revenge against Prometheus, who stole fire from heaven and gave it to the mortals. Zeus gave Pandora a jar containing all of the evil and misery the god could conceive. Zeus gave Pandora to Prometheus' brother who took her as his wife. Just as Zeus had planned, she opened the jar to satisfy her husband's curiosity, releasing the evil on the world. In time the jar's form changed, and it became known as Pandora's Box.[2]

Cupid once interceded for his wife, Psyche with Zeus, who decided that she should become immortal, in order to stop Venus from harassing her.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Zeus was main god in Greece. Zeus is actually an answer in the King's Questions. He was not a god that appeared in any of the previous King's Quest games.

Oberon in KQ7 may be based in part on Zeus.
