General notes: There are sometimes script changes and alternate descriptions between versions of the game. Some versions seem to have references to an alternate ending text, but its unclear if this was ever available in some versions of the game.

Apple II[]

  • Has a Title Screen with the 1986 "Green Valley Publishing" version but may not have existed on original 1980 release.
  • Limited color pallette, More colors are made using dithering. Said to have up to 21 colors at one time due to the dithering affects. This would have been more apparent on actual CRT monitors at the time.
  • Items are lower resolution, and heavy dithering.
  • Text is in caps.

Atari 8-bit[]

  • SieraVenture splash screen at start + Title screen.
  • Unique limited color pallette uses lots of different types of textures for dithering; dots, hashmarks, verticle bars, horizontal lines, and dashes.
  • Also had monochrome mode.
  • Text is in caps.
  • Extended manual.

C64[]

  • Full color. Has its own unique pallette (pastels), solid colors, and no dithering. Up to 16 colors, it generally had ten colors on screen at one time.
  • Items are of higher resolution and have new artwork.
  • Text is in caps.

PCJR[]

  • Sierra log splash screen and unique title screen.
  • Full color. Has its own unique 16 color pallette, solid colors and no dithering. Tends to use more colors than C64 version in particular for many of the characters and items on screen.
  • Items are largely the same as on apple II version. But maybe some extra details to add texture onto solid color.
  • Text is a mix of capital and lower case letters.

MSDOS (AIS)[]

  • Renamed to Adventure in Serenia
  • Title screen.
  • Limited 4 color CGA pallete and use of dithering. Some improvement if using Composite CRT Monitor/TV (Mode 4) which perhaps doubles the colors, but still uses dithering.
  • There is a monochrome mode that modern video cards assign a mix of grey, black, fuchsia and cyan. But would have looked like greyscale on oriignal hardware and screens.
  • Artwork is based largely on Apple II version but reduced colors.
  • Text is a mix of capital and lower case letters.
  • Limited manual.

FM-7/PC-88/PC-98[]

  • Enhanced original Hi-Res Artwork, full 16 colors, completely redrawn. Anime/Manga style. USe of dithering mostly for shading, and detail.
  • All items are also redrawn and hi-res.
  • Only in Japanese.
