Other[]

Behind the scenes[]

The first virtues were identified by the Greek philosophers Aristotle and Plato, who regarded temperance, wisdom, justice, and courage as the four most desirable character traits.

After the New Testament was written, these four virtues became known as the cardinal virtues, while faith, hope and charity were referred to as the theological virtues. The latter are not fully accessible to humans in their natural state without assistance from God.

The seven traditional heavenly virtues included Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness, and Humility.

An alternative list includes Knowledge, Justice, Benevolence, Ethics, Mercy, Loyalty, and Modesty. These are closer inline with the 'Bushido' code.

Diligence might relate to Perseverance from the Ancient's 'emotion' list might correspond. While "Temperance" is little mentioned if mentioned at all, although it might correspond with a larger concept of 'sacrifice' (or rather self-sacrifice, as opposed to human or blood sacrifices).

Some virtues maybe considered alternate names for the same or very similar virtues. Bravery and Courage for example or Truth and Honesty could easily overlap.

Certain concepts like Might (or Strength) might be neutral ideals, both a virtue if used for Good, but also sin if used for Evil deeds.
