The Vale of Willows is a land on the continent of Daventry.
Background[]
It is a beautiful country about three weeks north of Daventry, where shepherds live. Their sheep like to graze within its hills. From time to time the sloks come down from hills, and cause a ruckus in the vale, so the shepherds use their fierce dogs to herd the sloks into corrals, so that they can be led back to the Plains of Jed.[1] It bordered by the Westering Mountains and Spasky Hills.
It's location would suggest that it lies somewhere within the east-west arm of the Great Mountains that borders the northern edges of the Kingdom of Daventry.
There are many kingdoms the continent is divided into, most of them small and only a day or three's journey by foot in extent. These fiefdoms sometimes war or battle with each other for reasons their rulers care about, and shrink or grow depending on their martial fortunes. They seemingly come and go with the seasons, and few are remembered after their passing.
Behind the scenes[]
The detail that it lies three weeks north of Daventry, represents a different scale of the continents than found in the games or the King's Quest Companion, in which the region north of Daventry is often represented to be less than a day to reach the sea (KQ3), or even Serenia (KQ5), or most other kingdoms on the continent only being a day or two across on foot. The novel trilogy series appears to represent the continent as much larger than in other sources.
