He had trapped a small Hummingbird in his web and would have eaten it, if it wasn't for the noble efforts of Valanice.
Since the Spider's venom was deadly, Valanice cleverly trapped it in a box and destroyed the web, freeing the hummingbird. The Spider isn't seen in the game again after this event.
