The college is a place of higher learning that Farquhar apparently hoped to teach at after he was done tutoring Rosella. Rosella threatened to not put in a good word if he left her after she demanded that he stay. She threatened to put in such a bad report with the college that a fishmonger wouldn’t hire him to tutor a clam. He would be lucky to clean the wheels on a dung cart.[1]
It’s not clear where said college is located, but it was possibly in Daventry, or a reference to the Royal University, or it could be Llewdor College.
Behind the scenes[]
It’s possible she may have even referring to the academy (Magicians' Academy) who first gave him recommendation to work in Daventry as Rosella’s tutor. Rather than him working at college just threatening to ruin his reputation so that the academy wouldn’t recommend him working anywhere else.
