The idea of an Ogres being paired together as an Ogre and an Ogress Wife appears in a number of fairy tales. From the giant and giantess in Jack and the Beanstalk to other "Ogre and his wife" in the The Story of Halfman, and How the Beggar Boy Turned into Count Piro, and hinted about in The Three Robes, which can be found in Andrew Lang's Fairy Books books.
