Michael is one of Telgrin's black knights. His soul had been stolen and infused into black armor.[1]

Perhaps a reference to the late Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. It is also the name used by several kings and emperors in history including multiple Byzantine emperors.
There is also Michael an archangel celebrated during Michaelmas in Daventry.
