It is normally a glass-like reflecting looking-pond in the garden outside of the castle. But is connected to the alternate universe world of the Realm of Eldritch and Etheria via a magical portal.
The pool is a magical portal to the place between the worlds, apparently connecting various worlds across the Multiverse.
