Background[]

This was a short non-playable looping demo for KQ7 included in some of the versions of King's Quest Collection and Roberta William's Anthnology collection.

It starts with a brief low resolution title, gives an option to turn on scrolling or not, followed by a few scenes in the Desert with Valanice being bothered by the Jackalope. This is followed by a few scrolling scenes of various places from the game (just the artwork, but no characters), before looping back to the beginning.

A unique aspect of this demo is that it's MS-DOS or windows based was released before the game's original release. It comes with both a driver for running the demo in 320x200 VGA, and another for running it in Hi-Res Vesa (640x400) mode. This may be the only version of the game's art that runs in low resolution VGA. Although it shares some dual features from games like (Gabriel Knight 1 CD, KQ6 CD, LSL6 CD, and PQ4 CD that included both lo-res and hi-res modes).
