There were two main versions of the SCI DOS/Tandy game released (and not counting the separate AGI release: King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella (AGI). Plus a version for Amiga, and another for Atari ST.
The DOS/Tandy versions included the 9-disk version and the 8-disk version. The 9-disk version contained separate artwork for both the night and day cycles, while the 8-disk version used sky overlays and swapped palette colors.
The Amiga version is notable for adding in digital sound effects.
A fan patch can merge aspects 1988 and Amiga versions. Combines the Amiga sound effects, SCI0 high-detail graphics, MT-32 audio (emulated using the Munt MT-32 emulator), and other features from the various releases into a single version run through DOSBox.
