High Prince is a title that appears in English monarchy. It was the former title of Prince Harry before he was stripped or his honors of “his/your royal highness”. It appears to be one step below Prince of Wales (the UK’s equivalent of Crown Prince).
Other fantasy universes appear to treat it as highest rank below the ruling monarch (but shared among multiple princesses). Or the equivalent to the heir apparent (Crown Prince).
It’s not entirely clear what the context is within King’s Quest.
The reference to “a high prince”, as opposed to “the high prince”, appears to imply plural number of high princes. It’s not clear if this means he one of several high princes in Daventry in present. Or if there are other lesser princes (less than the Crown Prince), he is higher standing than regular princes. Or simply references to other high princes in the past collectively.
