Faeries is a plural term for several fay/fairy races referred to as 'faerie' or 'faery'. In general it refers to the Faerie race of Etheria.
List of 'Faeries' races[]
- Faerie (the Faeries/faeries are the inhabitants of Etheria, this term largely appears in KQ7 and related materials)
- Faerie/Faeries (The Faeries are inhabitants of Tamir as per KQ8 backstories, these are usually referred to as "Fairy/Fairies')
- Faery (various races from Daventry, this term appears mainly in the BB universe novels)
- Woodland faeries[1] (known as 'faeries'[2][3], 'faery'[4][5], 'faeryfolk'[6], sometimes referred to as "Fairie'[7], and in a few cases 'fairy'[8]/'fairies'[9]) (specifically inhabitants of the Old Wood)
- Sylvan faeries (likely alternate variant name for 'woodland faeries', but slightly broader as it applies to groups across the world, and covers three different species)
- Ice Faeries
Physical appearance and traits[]
The Faeries of Etheria tend to come in skin colors such as white and green. They may have ears varying from pointed to more human like in shape. Most seem to have human-like eyes with whites with iris in the center (that generally share similar colors to humans). Though some like the case of Weaver of Dreams has glowing flashing almost-hypnotic eyes. This race is also notable as many of its members also appeared to be categorized as 'human' by others (though this may mainly apply mostly to those that have light skin).
Whereas in Daventry there are many races known as "Fairie" (or fairies), some of these races are sometimes categorized as Faeries. They tend to have much more diverse physical appearances. Including some that have wings (and possibly some that do not), many appear to be white-skinned (as in the case of Genesta), though no one seems to be surprised of Lolotte and her son Edgar, and their green skin (and no wings) so there may also be green skinned/no winged Daventry "Faerie" as well (at least for a while Lolotte and Edgar were rumored to be a "fairies" of Daventry). They come in different sizes as well as many of Genesta's "Faeries" are small (and pixie-like), aka her Fairy Helpers.[10]
Notably, there are other likely unrelated races noted for having white skin with green veins underneath that might give off greenish shade (such as the woodland faery race), but this race is categorized as "Faery/faeryfolk" or "Fairie" rather than 'Faerie'. Though these are sometimes also referred to as 'Faeries/Sylvan Faeries' or 'Ice Faeries' (but are not Faerie). and are generally physically different than Genesta), and considered a separate race (or races) altogether (resembling small children or teenagers often with glowing pupilless eyes, some are thin, some are apparently plumper, they are generally wingless, have horse-like ears, and some rule over various fay that range in size and appearance, some with wings).
It is not known if there is any other skin types that mirrors that of the human races that come in many Other World shades and pigments.
