Edgar is character in the King's Quest: Adventures of Graham series. He is inspired by the original character from King's Quest 4 and King's Quest VII.

Background[]

Edgar is the father of Gart, and uncle of Gwendolyn.[1] Edgar lives with Rosella and his son primarily in Daventry. Rosella was always off on her own adventures with Edgar. He is presumably still from Eldritch.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

He is first mentioned by name in Chapter 4 in the game, but alluded to in chapter 1. He was previously only mentioned by name in an article in GameInformer. His whereabouts are unclear. His background is not mentioned, nor his fairy heritage. Fairies in general are downplayed in this series, and most references to them were cut. That which does exist, does not appear to resemble anything remotely like fairies of the original series, see Fairy.

In Reboot Canon, Rosella and Edgar finally marry, and Rosella gives birth to their child Gart, cousin of Gwendolyn. Gart believes he is to be the next heir.

Edgar is only alluded to indirectly in chapter 1 but not by name (but he does get a mention in Chapter 4). It appears Gart's family lives most of the time in Daventry. Other than that Edgar is only mentioned directly by name as the father of Gart in an article in GameInformer.

It is known that original Eldritch was in an alternate universe to the original World of Daventry, and that this Eldritch exists in the same universe as the reboot universe. Could they be the same Eldritch? Is Edgar the same Edgar that was kidnapped by Lolotte and taken back to original Daventry. Is Susan the same Crystal Dragon that Rosella met when she was pulled into the “land beyond dreams”. Is there and eastern and western Etheria each with their own Edgar, like Kolyma (KQGS) and the two Valanices? Or just one Eldritch, and Edgar married the local Daventry’s Rosella, while original Rosella married Connor in her world?

This premise provides a unique opportunity to tie the past and present together; each episode has narrative threads in both time periods, usually linked by common themes. In the first installment, Gwendolyn (daughter of Alexander and Cassima) has signed up for a fencing tournament with her cousin Gart (son of Rosella and Edgar). Gwendolyn has doubts about her ability to succeed – doubts that Gart encourages. So Graham tells Gwendolyn about how he overcame the odds to become a knight. [1]
