The Crown Prince is the next in line to become King in many kingdoms.

Background[]

In Daventry it was prophesied by the spirit of Edward, that graham and his wife would birth a princely heir who would that make Daventry's future secure.

Alexander is the Crown Prince of Daventry. He is the 'true heir of Daventry' and destined to inherit Daventry as per Edward’s vision. [1][2][3] He remained the Prince of Daventry (while being King of the Green Isles), and kept the signet ring which classified him as the heir apparent (which he used as his wife's wedding ring).

Destiny is fluid, and based on the choices one makes in life, there are many possible paths to one's destiny. However, destiny, cannot be altered.[4] If Alexander was the one prophecied as the one to make the kingdom secure, then that destiny will happen, no matter the path he takes in life to get there.

Additionally, during Graham’s wedding celebration he was given the blessing or prophecy they would have many fine children.[5] Thar Valanice was destined to have many more children (some following the twin's birth). Perhaps the vision was about a future son other than Alex..

Behind the scenes[]

A crown prince or hereditary prince is the heir apparent to the throne in a royal or imperial monarchy. It is is title that is used in Norway and Denmark as couple of examples. The term is not used in the UK where the traditional title is the Prince of Wales.

Crown prince as a descriptive term has been used throughout history for the prince who is first-in-line to a throne and is expected to succeed (i.e. the heir apparent), barring any unforeseen future event preventing this. In certain monarchies, a more specific substantive title may be accorded and become associated with the position of heir apparent (e.g. Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom or Prince of Asturias in the Kingdom of Spain). In these monarchies, the term crown prince may be used less often than the substantive title (or never).

Until the late twentieth century, no modern monarchy adopted a system whereby females would be guaranteed to succeed to the throne (i.e. absolute primogeniture). A crown princess would therefore be more likely to refer to the spouse of a crown prince. She would be styled crown princess, not in her own right but by courtesy.

Cassima, ad the wife of Alexander, and as a member of Royal Family through marriage to the crown prince of Daventry, would technically be the crown princess to the kingdom.

Some fans are unclear if he remained heir to Daventry after becoming King of the Green Isles, and are unsure if he would rule both nations. In Companion it claims he is still heir, and that his marriage united the two kingdoms.

Some believe that instead his sister (the Princess of the Realm) went on to become the next heir (since Alexander had already become a king of the Green Isles), she had been already been considered next in line before Alexander's return, and before her attempted sacrifice to the Three-headed Dragon.[6][7] However, as she is a princess, and not a prince it might go against Edward's prophecy. Unless it skipped a generation and the prince who would secure Daventry was one of Rosella's own future children.

In other stories, in the Reboot Universe, Gwendolyn is in competition to become the next heir, against her cousin Gart. She ultimately becomes the next Queen.
