Alchemy is form of magic that is shares similarities to certain aspects of science and medicine.

Background[]

Alchemy is concerned with the transmutation of matter, in particular with attempts to convert base metals into gold or find a universal elixir ('elixir of life' or 'philosopher's stone').

Those who practice Alchemy are usually known as Alchemists. Alchemists create magic through potions and draughts for the purpose of transmutation, and  practicing the magic of alchemy.

In the Other World, worms, different tied-flies, mechanical lures, and alchemical concoctions are used the catch the mythical "Big One".

The Alchemist in Connor's community in Daventry town. He had boarded up his Alchemist's Shop in hopes it would protect it from the oncoming cataclysm. However it didn't protect him from being turned to stone during the cataclysm.

He made potions such as Potion of Shield and Elixir of Life, and studied spells such as Permanent Spell of Might.

The Apothecary Gnome also studied alchemical formulae.

Alchemists are practitioners of magic that come in flavors of good and evil, and the shades of black and white. Some follow the Left-Hand and others the Right-Hand paths.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Alchemy was the forerunner of chemistry.

Notes, other professions or magic users/magicians may make and use magic potions, but aren't necessarily 'alchemists'. For example physicians, witches, shamans, wizards and necromancers. An apothecarist may not be a alchemist, but for purpose of limiting number of categories this wiki lumps apothecary with alchemy (it is also at least confirmed that the apothecary gnome worked with alchemical formulae).
